One of the BEST things about living in the UK, is the fervor and zeal that comes with Pancake Day.  I think Americans make fabulous pancakes, but we don't celebrate it nearly enough!   To that end we are celebrating Pancake Day with my American buttermilk pancake recipe, wild blueberry compote, real maple syrup, and a side of bacon, you must come join us!  Pancakes available from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at our Kings Road, Bloomsbury, and St. Paul's location.  The date is February 21st.

Can't wait to see you then!  - Bea

Strudal Classes

Come and learn how to make suthentic Austrian Strudel with Chef Franz Schingal.

Srudel comes in many different types and Franz will show you exactly how to make a fantastic strudel pastry and then you will make your own strudels, the very popular apple as well as a lesser known savoury one. While you sit down and enjoy the fruits of your labout you will also have a glass of Austrian wine and a chance to ask all things you ever wanted to know about strudels and Austrian food.

Friday January 6th 2012

It's been a great holiday season for us and we wanted to kick up the new year with a bit of love to our Bloomsbury's shop.  New tables, new counter, new lights, new paint, new privacy screen for the kitchen! Woohoo!  The response from a beloved regular: "It looks different in here...how is it different?"

Wednesday, December 7, 2011

As the weather is now getting to the proper holiday temperatures (frosty!)  it was time for us to get the Holiday Decorations out!  Compared to last year when we didn't get them out until Mid December, this year we got it out right on time with the help of some great volunteers!!   Say hello to Tootsie Sugar-Socks, our Gingerbread Godzilla at St. Paul's, or have a look at the Gingerbread Village at  Theobalds Road.  In Chelsea, I brought my own Christmas Pudding Pillow to add a festive touch!

We have too many things going on for Christmas this year which include:

* Christmas Dinner Party, December 15th at St. Paul's (like Thanksgiving but with mince pies, mulled wine and Yorkshire pudding of course!)  Tickets are here. It's the perfect time to enjoy dinner with friends before heading off to be with family! And best of all, no cleanup. :)

*Christmas Tea Parties,  December 12th and December 20th, at our St. Paul's shop.  Details are on our Tea Parties page

*Xmas Hampers and Bake the Book Hampers are available for pre-order now!  Stay tuned for more details.

And of course, a very merry Christmas greeting from us!

Thanksgiving at Bea's of Bloomsbury!

November 24th 2011

On TimeOut London's list of Best Thanksgiving Meals 2 years in a row and counting, Thanksgiving is my personal favourite holiday---and I'm glad that I can share it with you all here in London.  For those who want to order it for the office or at home, the order form is here.

Here's the Menu for Thursday night at both our St. Paul's and Bloomsbury Location.  The idea is the same that my own family holds--a massive buffet suited for grazing over a 3 hour period.  We have three types of stuffing, yes because that's how we roll. This is not a super-refined dinner--this is the menu my family makes every year for Thanksgiving for years and years.  Thanksgiving is about family, friends, and food, and good American-sized quantities of food!
This is where you come in comfy clothes that stretch easily, this will be a marathon!  And of course, there will be a box for you to take leftovers home, because Thanksgiving isn't thanskgiving without a Friday turkey sandwich filled with all of the good bits and pieces (and that wedge of pie...)  For Vegetarians we do have lots of sides and desserts, but you won't find a Tofurkey here....

Thanskgiving Menu:

Spiced and Brined Roasted Copas Farm Free Range Turkey
Super Buttery Mashed Potatoes
Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Hazelnuts and Butter (vegetarian)
Wild Mushroom and Sourdough Stuffing (vegetarian)
Spicy Sausage and Cornbread Stuffing, southern style
Sage 'stovetop' style stuffing with Cumberland Sausage
Green Bean Casserole with Mushrooms and Fried Onions
Green Beans with Almonds and Butter  (vegetarian)
Glazed Roasted Carrots with Tarragon  (vegetarian)
Sweet Potato Casserole with Marshmallows  (vegetarian)
Proper Turkey Gravy
Wild Mushroom Gravy (vegetarian)
Warm Rolls
Cranberry Orange Sauce
Buttermilk Biscuits!

Dessert:
Pumpkin Bourbon Cheesecake
Pumpkin Chiffon Pie
Apple Bourbon Walnut Cake
Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake
Pecan Pie
Whipped Cream

Tickets are 45 GBP each, and unlimited drink tickets are 15 GBP, and we'll have red and white wine good for Turkey at your disposal.  Dinner starts at 7 p.m.  and will go on until we're stuffed.  Please be aware as it's a friends and family event, we will have long tables and you will get to meet and know your neighbours! :)
